A structural steel brace connects to a beam sized per plan at a designated work point. A three-eighths-inch thick gusset plate welds to the underside of the beam with a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld. The diagonal brace member, specified per elevation, fastens to the gusset plate with two bolts spaced at two inches, three inches, and two inches. Typical edge distances measure one inch.
