A structural steel column bears on a five-sixteenth inch steel base plate resting over one and one-half inches of non-shrink grout atop a concrete foundation. The base plate is anchored with hooked anchor bolts embedded into the concrete footing. A concrete blockout surrounds the lower portion of the column, flanked by exterior slabs or grade concrete elements.
