A fourteen-gauge steel plate is positioned between the metal deck and the steel beam below to reinforce a small opening. The plate extends a minimum of two inches into the nearest full low flute on each side of the penetration, maintaining specified dimensional clearances. Number ten sheet metal screws secure the plate, but are omitted at the beam per engineering notes. The opening dimensions are limited to ten inches maximum width, with surrounding boundary dimensions ensuring adequate bearing and edge distance.
