A six-inch diameter standard steel pipe post mounts atop a structural steel beam supporting a fall protection system designed for a maximum five-thousand-pound ultimate load. The pipe connects to a three-quarter-inch base plate matching the manufacturer plate and is welded to the supporting beam flange with a half-inch fillet weld. Full-depth three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides. An intersecting beam connects per plan with connections detailed on sheet 05201, while the overall post height is limited to one foot six inches maximum and verified with the architect.
