A horizontal construction joint occurs between a first and second shotcrete wall placement. The hardened surface of the first placement must be roughened to remove loose material, and the wall and reinforcing bars cleaned of rebound prior to the second placement. A waterstop is embedded at the joint level, referenced to sheet 16/S5.02. Formwork is provided by others at the face of the wall. The contractor is required to submit the proposed joint location to the engineer for review.
