An HSS header or stair channel stringer connects to a concrete wall or pier using a one-half-inch by six-inch by ten-inch plate welded to an MC8x20 channel section. The assembly is secured to the concrete wall with two three-quarter-inch diameter by three-and-a-half-inch embedment Hilti HIT-HY 200 V3 adhesive anchors. Three-eighths-inch side plates are welded with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds typically. A two-inch gap is maintained between the steel framing and the concrete surface. Mitered channels and corner conditions require top and bottom legs to be ground smooth with stringers matched full height.
