An HSS spreader beam is anchored to a concrete pit wall using a half-inch thick steel plate welded with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld and secured by five-eighths inch Hilti KB-TZ2 wedge anchors with a four-inch embedment. Angles measuring six by six by one-half inches and seven inches long attach to each side of the hollow structural section using seven-eighths inch ASTM A307 through bolts, with the contractor permitted to slot holes horizontally at one end for erection clearance. The assembly aligns flush with the face of the concrete pit or shaft liner, positioned adjacent to a slab on grade as specified per plan.
