A galvanized hollow structural section column receives a three-sixteenths inch galvanized cap plate welded at the top. Galvanized hollow structural section beams frame into the upper portion of the column, secured with typical quarter-inch fillet welds. A half-inch diameter weep hole is provided typically near the connection. All vent holes are plugged after galvanization to create an airtight column assembly below the roof deck.
