The interface between a buckling restrained brace casing and surrounding concrete at the top of concrete elevation requires a three-inch thick layer of low-density expanded polystyrene bead board around the casing where buried in concrete, excluding the gusset plate connection where concrete must make direct contact. A one-inch clearance is maintained at the sides of the casing and a three-inch clearance at the end. Concrete placement is prohibited until the brace is installed and inspected, and blockout material must be provided in the hatched regions as indicated.
