This slip connection joins a wide flange beam to a column using a connection plate. The beam web features standard holes, while the connection plate is fabricated with two-inch long slots to allow for movement. Bolts are installed finger-tight with jam nuts or spalled threads to prevent loosening, with the number and size of bolts determined by the typical connection schedule. A one-and-a-half-inch dimension is maintained from the beam end to the centerline of the standard hole, with a half-inch clearance provided between the beam end and the column face. Three-inch typical spacing is used for the bolt pattern.
