An HSS vertical post is anchored to a 1/2 inch by 8 inch by 16 inch base plate with four 7/8 inch diameter A325 bolts. The base plate rests upon a 1/2 inch by 16 inch wide plate supported by a steel beam sized per plan. A 3/8 inch stiffener plate is centered beneath the post and welded to the beam web with 1/4 inch fillet welds on three sides. The post base is secured to the wide plate with a 5/16 inch fillet weld on three sides, and the wide plate is connected to the beam top flange with 1/4 inch fillet welds.
