Hollow structural section truss braces connect to a structural steel truss bottom chord and a wide-flange beam using slotted knife plates welded with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. The brace members consist of HSS6x6x5/16 sections slotted to receive a one-half-inch knife plate, secured with three-quarter-inch machine bolts or A325N bolts. A one-half-inch flush knife plate aligns with the truss bottom chord flange, while three-eighth-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the wide-flange beam web aligned with the working point.
