About this detail

An exterior skin brace and window head attach to structural steel framing at a concrete-filled metal deck slab. A hollow structural section steel column supports a steel beam and hollow structural section outrigger connected via a three-eighths-inch end plate and fillet welds. A bent plate and angle facilitate the connection to the floor slab, while metal studs and the window system are attached to accommodate vertical deflection and seismic drift. A thermal break connection is incorporated at the exterior interface, and section A-A provides a plan view of the hollow structural section outrigger and steel column gusset plate configuration.
