Light and heavy electrical conduits are embedded in a concrete slab cast over a metal steel deck supported by a steel beam. The light conduit installation requires a three-inch minimum concrete thickness with a three-quarter-inch diameter conduit having a three-quarter-inch outside diameter maximum unless approved by the engineer, accompanied by welded wire reinforcement placed over the conduit where it occurs. The heavy conduit installation requires a four-and-a-half-inch minimum concrete thickness with a three-quarter-inch diameter conduit having a one-inch outside diameter maximum, requiring a minimum number four reinforcing bar at twelve inches on center perpendicular to the conduits and extending one foot past the conduit on both sides. Both configurations specify minimum clearances of three-quarters of an inch to one and a half inches, shear studs welded to the supporting steel beam, and minimum three-inch spacing between conduits with one-foot six-inch minimum spacing requirements.
