A continuous wide-flange beam bears upon a hollow structural section column utilizing an angle connection on each side. The structural connection incorporates L8x4x1/2 angles with two 1-1/2 inch vertical short slotted holes on each side of the HSS column, secured with two 3/4-inch diameter A325 bolts positioned at the bottom of the vertical slot holes. Three-eighths-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to both sides of the web with a three-sixteenths-inch weld on three sides. A one-quarter-inch shim space is detailed between the beam flange and the column top, maintaining a one-inch clearance space, with five-sixteenths-inch typical fillet welds connecting the assembly.
