An intersecting steel beam connects to the web of an existing supporting beam using L4x3x3/8 structural steel angles welded to the supported beam and bolted through the web. The web angles are located on alternate sides of the beam web to prevent bolt clashing between opposing connections. Connection hardware consists of two 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A325-X bolts with a 3-inch vertical spacing and 1-1/2-inch edge distances. A 3/16-inch fillet weld secures the angle to the supported beam web.
