A continuous one-quarter-inch bent plate or one-quarter-inch angle at the contractor's option caps the roof deck edge bearing on a wide-flange beam and roof joist sized per plan. The bent plate connects to the joist with a three-sixteenth-inch weld, and the roof deck is attached per the roof deck schedule. A weld symbol indicates connection detailing with a field weld flag, and a maximum twelve-inch dimension coordinates with architectural requirements.
