This connection joins a wide-flange beam to the weak axis of a continuous wide-flange column. Continuity plates are installed on each side of the column web, matching the beam flange thickness as specified in detail 3/S701. The beam connects to the column via a moment plate assembly, with three-eighths inch fillet welds applied to three sides of the connection. A diagonal brace gusset plate is integrated into the assembly, with weld sizes and lengths designated as W-H/L-H, W-B/L-B, and W-V/L-V for the horizontal, brace, and vertical components respectively. The beam web is connected via a bolted splice as indicated per detail 15. Five-sixteenths inch fillet welds are used typically for the continuity plate attachments to the column web.
