A reinforced concrete footing supports a concrete pier that extends upward as a foundation wall. Horizontal wall reinforcing runs continuously through the pier. Vertical column dowels match the reinforcement above and anchor into the footing. A concrete slab on grade ties into the side of the pier as specified on the structural plans.
