A 16-gauge sheet reinforcement is secured around a deck opening using number 10 self-drilling screw fasteners or half-inch diameter arc plug welds applied to each deck flute. The reinforcement extends a minimum of six inches on all sides, with fasteners spaced up to eight inches maximum typical for each deck rib.
