A non-bearing wood wall connects beneath wood sub-purlins running perpendicular to the wall framing. Two two-by top plates support the framing above with a one-half-inch clearance. Two-by blocking is installed at every other joist space and attached with sixteen-penny nails at four inches on center to the top plate. Additionally, two-by-four blocking is placed on each side of the top plate at every other joist space, secured with two sixteen-penny nails at each end of the joists.
