A concrete over metal deck slab on one side and a cross-laminated timber assembly on the other frame into a buckling-restrained braced frame beam at a core boundary. A continuous 5/16-inch thick plate and trimmed continuous L6x4x5/16 angle support the concrete over metal deck, with stiffener plates welded at 48 inches on center maximum using 1/4-inch fillet welds. A beam-to-beam connection utilizes a full-depth stiffener plate and a connection plate secured with six 3/4-inch diameter A-325 bolts, alongside self-drilling wood screws connecting the cross-laminated timber assembly to a continuous 1/4-inch plate as shown.
