A small opening in a metal deck is reinforced with a fourteen-gauge steel plate positioned below the deck. The plate extends two inches into the nearest full low flute on each side with a maximum ten-inch opening dimension. Number ten sheet metal screws fasten the plate at each low flute on both sides spaced typically with three screws equally spaced. Minimum dimensions of six inches and maximum dimensions of twelve inches govern the spacing parameters.
