An open web steel joist bears on a structural steel beam supporting a metal deck roof, with an upper cold-formed steel stud wall anchored to hollow structural section blocking above the beam flange. The hollow structural section blocking matches the joist seat depth with a four-inch minimum width and three-sixteenth-inch minimum wall thickness, welded to the beam flange with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds spaced at twelve inches. A lower cold-formed steel non-bearing wall connects to the underside of the beam per engineering details.
