An existing W21x62 wide flange beam bears upon a new W18x97 wide flange beam. A hollow structural section measuring 3x3x1/4 is placed between the members. A 3/8-inch thick plate measuring 14 inches long is spaced at 3 feet 0 inches on center. Fillet welds of 5/16-inch size secure the steel assembly.
