An elevator sump pump is installed within a concrete pit at the base of an elevator shaft, covered by a removable grate. The discharge piping rises from the pump through a union, a spring check valve, and a shutoff valve before routing horizontally below the ceiling. A high level water float switch hangs in the shaft above the sump, and a secondary float switch connects to the pump. The discharge line ties into a 2-inch pumped waste line that drops to connect to a 4-inch minimum waste line. A remote control panel connects via control wiring to monitor and operate the system.
