A floor drain or sump is set into a concrete floor slab above a bed of compacted sub-base material. A 3-inch tail piece with a trap primer connects to a 3-inch trap located below the slab. The waste line continues from the trap toward the sewer, with a vertical vent pipe tying into the horizontal drainage run.
