A water hammer arrestor connects directly to the water supply line serving quick-closing fixtures or equipment. Water hammer arrestors are installed on supply lines to fixtures with quick-closing valves such as water closets with flush valves, dishwashers, and clothes washers to absorb hydraulic shock.
