An existing hollow structural section pipe column receives a concrete fill with a specified compressive strength of 4000 PSI. The repair assembly incorporates a half-inch thick steel plate rolled to match the pipe column profile, secured with welded connections. Through-bolts of one and one-eighth inch diameter conforming to ASTM F1554 Grade 55 pass through the column and concrete fill at specified intervals. Cleanout access holes are provided on the north and south sides of the column base. The interior of the column and the top of the base plate must be cleaned prior to concrete placement.
