A plumbing vent or insulated pipe penetrates the existing roof assembly with a Stoneman lead flashing model number 1000 featuring a six-inch skirt and weighing four pounds, set in mastic. The flashing is secured with galvanized roofing nails spaced four inches on center continuously around the perimeter, positioned two inches in from the flashing edge. Existing roofing extends four inches past the flashing typically, set in mastic with a walking pad also set in mastic. A Zurn number Z-196 counterflashing or equal is installed over the pipe and filled with eurathane caulking to form a watertight seal.
