Incoming three-inch cold water service piping rises from the water meter through a strainer and shutoff valve to a reduced pressure backflow preventer assembly. The backflow preventer includes typical shutoff valves on both sides and a funnel connected to an indirect waste receptor at the floor. Downstream piping incorporates a typical pressure gauge before feeding cold water to the system. A twelve-inch minimum clearance is maintained above the floor, and redundant devices are provided as required by the building owner and local authorities having jurisdiction.
