A water hammer arrestor connects to the domestic cold water supply line upstream of quick-closing valves to absorb hydraulic shock. An isolation valve is installed typically on the supply line below the arrestor for maintenance and shutoff capability. An access door provides entry to the assembly, with size and location coordinated per architectural plans.
