An insulated pipe passes through a floor or wall assembly utilizing a protective pipe sleeve with two inches of clearance filled with fireproof mastic. The annular space around the pipe and insulation is packed with backup material and sealed at the surface. An escutcheon plate finishes the penetration on the face of the construction.
