A schedule 40 steel galvanized support pipe extends through the roof deck, anchored by an 1/8-inch by 6-inch steel base plate that spans two deck corrugations and is welded to the deck. A three-sixteenth-inch steel end cap plate is welded to the top of the support pipe with a centered hole sized for a watertight bulkhead fitting. A three-quarter-inch wrought copper bulkhead fitting connects the hose valve assembly to the cold water supply pipe. Roof material flashing surrounds the penetration eighteen inches below the valve.
