A bare pipe passes through a fire-rated steel stud and gypsum wallboard partition centered within a minimum twenty-two gauge galvanized sheet metal sleeve. The annular space is packed with a one-hundred percent fill of Underwriters Laboratories approved mineral wool batt insulation. Waterproof resilient fire-rated sealant is applied at each side of the wall between the pipe and the sleeve. Escutcheons are installed on all pipes exposed to view on each side of the wall. The assembly complies with Underwriters Laboratories Fire Resistance Directory system number W-L-1003 for one and two-hour fire ratings.
