The domestic cold water supply enters from the utility through an outside screw and yoke isolation gate valve and a strainer before reaching the reduced pressure zone backflow assembly. The assembly incorporates two typical check valves, typical test ports, and a relief valve that discharges through a funnel with an air gap into a floor sink. Pipe supports secure the horizontal piping runs above the concrete floor slab. A downstream outside screw and yoke isolation gate valve controls the domestic cold water supply leaving to the building. The relief valve drain is sized for full relief valve flow rate, and a strainer is installed upstream when used in areas with poor water quality.
