The branch connection ties into the top of the gas pipe main to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction of the main run. A gas cock precedes a line size tee with a side outlet and a three-inch long line size dirt leg extending below with a minimum of four inches of clear space. The gas pressure regulator is installed in the orientation specified by the manufacturer alongside a relief vent line where required by plans. Downstream of the regulator, a ground joint pipe union connects to a pipe increaser, followed by a tee with a cap installed at a minimum distance of ten pipe diameters downstream. The piping continues toward the equipment with a reducer provided at the final connection.
