A brass cleanout with a countersunk head is installed flush with the finished floor level, connecting into a vertical drop of cast iron or PVC pipe. The piping transitions through an eighth bend when the cleanout occurs at the end of a drainage line, oriented to match the required direction of flow. Mechanical couplings or hub-and-spigot connections join the pipe segments together. The vertical drop extends downward from the slab to tie into the horizontal sanitary drainage run.
