This longitudinal seismic brace assembly restrains suspended piping systems against lateral and longitudinal seismic loads. A Figure 4A pipe clamp or approved equal secures the brace to the service pipe of specified diameter. A one-inch by seven-foot Schedule 40 black steel pipe acts as the brace member, installed at an angle between 45 and 59 degrees. A universal swivel connects the brace pipe to a Figure 980 sway brace attachment, which anchors directly to the overhead structural steel framing.
