A traffic-rated valve box is set flush with the finished grade, surrounded by a Portland cement concrete collar. An eight-inch PVC valve box extension houses a one-and-one-quarter-inch diameter stainless steel rod stem extension. The stem extension secures with a two-inch square nut and a one-quarter-inch by seven-inch diameter steadying plate. A gate valve operating socket connects the stem extension to the standard nut of the underground gate valve.
