A bare pipe passes through a wall opening with the annular space filled with approved fire-proof packing material capable of maintaining its integrity under prescribed test temperatures. Fire caulk is applied around both sides of the pipe typically. The packing and sealant configuration adheres to Underwriters Laboratories fire test standards and Uniform Building Code specifications.
