An opening in metal decking is reinforced with an L6x4x5/16 angle with long legs vertical on all four sides of the opening, connected per typical details. The structural framing consists of the top chord of a joist or the top flange of a beam spaced at regular intervals. Opening size and location are provided by others. All deck openings larger than 8 inches by 8 inches or 8 inches in diameter require support framing.
