The thermostatic mixing valve connects to a hot water inlet and a cold water inlet, each equipped with typical external and internal check valves. A temperature adjusting and locking mechanism sits at the base of the mixing valve body. Tempered water feeds upward from the valve to the lavatory fixture. Double check valves must be installed on the inlets if the mixing valve lacks integral check valves.
