A box-type wall hydrant is mounted through an exterior wall with the valve housing dimension determined by the wall thickness. Silicone caulk is installed behind the wall hydrant flange, and a wall clamp is provided with the assembly. The annular space around the hydrant body is packed with batt insulation. The interior connection uses a threaded elbow sweat connection, a female National Pipe Thread union, and a shut-off drain and vent valve located in an accessible location. The back of the opening is covered with 18-gauge galvanized sheet metal where exposed to view.
