An expansion joint connection occurs at a structural steel joist girder supported by a column per plan. An 8-inch by 8-inch by 3/4-inch stabilizer plate connects to the column with two 1/2-inch stiffener plates. A 1-inch by 11-inch by 1-foot seat plate and a 1-inch by 7-inch by 9-inch seat plate support the metal deck, roofing, and insulation assembly per architectural plans. A Con-Serv Type CSA slide bearing pad designed for 500 psi bearing pressure is installed beneath the seat plate, featuring upper and lower pads measuring 9-1/2 inches by 11-1/2 inches and 6-1/2 inches by 11-1/2 inches respectively. Two 5-inch diameter long slotted holes in the joist girder or seat plate accommodate two 3/4-inch diameter A325 bolts at 5 inches on center with their threads tightened and upset. Additional slide bearing pads measuring 3 inches by 7 inches and 3 inches by 8 inches are placed at each bolt along with a 3/8-inch by 1-1/2-inch by 7-inch washer plate. A note specifies leaving the connection left unwelded to the girder, while 5/16-inch typical fillet welds are applied elsewhere as indicated.
