Trench excavation for utilities near structural footings requires maintaining stable soil slopes with a two-to-one slope ratio outside a ten-foot horizontal zone from the footing. Piping crossing under and within three feet of the bottom of the normal footing requires concrete encasement extending at least six inches below the sleeve and eighteen inches wider than the casing across the full width of the footing. Pipe sleeves are installed through concrete foundations with caulk applied as required around the pipe penetration.
