The heat pump water heater assembly connects to the domestic water supply through a water shut-off valve and includes a thermal expansion tank. Automatic cold water shut-off valves control water entry, while a temperature and pressure relief valve routes discharge to an approved receptor. The unit features upper and lower elements with an energy control cut-off, alongside a condensate drain line and a leak detection sensor positioned inside a drain pan connected to a floor sink via a discharge pipe. Electrical power connects through a junction box with a one-half-inch conduit opening. If copper piping is used, unions must be dielectric at the inlet and outlet.
