A mixing valve is housed within a utility box and connected to incoming hot and cold water supply lines, with pipe sizes varying per installation requirements. Ball valves are typically installed on the supply lines for isolation. Tempered water exits the mixing valve and routes to plumbing fixtures. The mixing valve is set at one hundred ten degrees Fahrenheit for hand wash sinks and lavatories, and one hundred forty degrees Fahrenheit for janitor sinks.
