Rectangular or round ductwork passes through a drywall partition framed with metal studs and gypsum board. A minimum twenty-two gauge sheet metal sleeve lines the opening, surrounded by fiberglass insulation and a backer rod. A one-quarter-inch gap around the perimeter is filled with acoustical sealant on both sides. Minimum twenty-two gauge sheet metal angle rings are secured to the sleeve to finish each side of the penetration.
