A flexible material spanning between sheet metal ductwork and a fan side isolates vibration and movement. The connection incorporates a one-inch flange and hem, a one-and-one-half-inch pocket slip, and one-inch by one-eighth-inch band iron clamped with bolts on four-inch centers. Washers distribute the clamping force, and the flexible material is installed with a nominal six-inch width maintained taut across a variable one-and-one-half-inch minimum to three-inch maximum gap. Alternate bolt positions accommodate alignment variations.
